Emmerdale’s Amos dies

Former Emmerdale actor Ronald Magill, who played landlord Amos Brearly, died on Thursday aged 87.
Keith Richardson, Executive Producer on Emmerdale, said: “Everyone at Emmerdale is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ronald Magill. His endearing performances secured Amos Brearly a place as one of the best loved characters in Emmerdale’s history.”
Ronald Magill made his debut appearance as Amos Brearley in Emmerdale Farm when the first episode transmitted on 16th October 1972.
He was the landlord of the Woolpack Inn for 43 years before retiring to Spain. After leaving the show in January 1991, Ronald later returned as Amos for a few episodes before making his final appearance on 7 July 1995.
