RIP Clive Hornby
It's come to my attention that actor Clive Hornby died today--best known for playing Jack Sugden on Emmerdale Farm (AKA Emmerdale) for 28 years after replacing Andew Burt.

More about this on the BBC article.

Yuletide Ficathon Exchange Sign ups
Hello folks!

I just wanted to say that the annual Yuletide Ficathon Exchange has sign ups going on for approximately another three days, and this year they've got "Emmerdale Farm" available for requests! So if you'd like to write or offer to write some "Emmerdale Farm" fanfic, now is your chance to sign up and offer or request for it! There are a TON of other fandoms also offered so you can probably find something you like. It is a ficathon exchange for rare fandoms, and fandoms with very little fic in them, so it'd be lovely if some more "Emmerdale Farm" fic came out of it. :D

You can sign up for it here.

Emmerdale Farm books #1-9
Here's a lot of Emmerdale Farm books, #1 - 9, currently selling for £0.99! Definitely a steal for all nine of the first books, so if you're interested and have been holding out, this might be your lucky chance, hahahaha. The first nine books are really enjoyable and easy to read, I think. I highly recommend them to anyone interested in "Emmerdale Farm" or to anyone who is interested in getting into it. :D

Actor Ronald Magill (Emmerdale's Amos Brearly), dies age 87.
After doing some poking around on the ITV.com website, I discovered that actor Ronald Magill, who played Amos Brearly on "Emmerdale Farm" from the first episode in 1972 - 1995 died yesterday, September 6th, 2007, at the age of 87. The article on his death can be found here, and I've copied and pasted the text of it behind the LJ-cut for anyone of interest.

RIP, Ronald, Amos.

Finally on Amazon.co.uk! Although looking at the run times for each set, it looks really likely that the most expensive DVD is just a combined set of the two underneath it.

Oh goodness, it's DVDs (plural)
Play has the following listed for release on 15/10 (or 10/15...):

Emmerdale 35th Anniversary edition (6 discs)
RRP: £34.99

The Best of Emmerdale (2 discs)
RRP: £19.99

Emmerdale Farm: The Complete First Series (4 discs)
RRP: £24.99

UK preorders get a cheaper price, and now I'm looking for other sites listing them, because as far as I know Play doesn't ship internationally.

All DVDs are region 2, etc, and released around the time I should be studying for exams.

Emmerdale Farm DVD

4 discs, due out in October/November, no price yet but yay! They say it's a 35th anniversary set, but there is some speculation that it may be the complete first season which of course would be made entirely of awesome :D

EDIT: This board confirms that it's the first 26 episodes (aka the first season) so score! Now only to find out the price...

Books on ebay
Set One
Set Two
Set Three
Set Four
Set Five

Seems like all of the books are being sold, although the grouping of some of them is odd. Good for filling little gaps though, international shipping and all that good stuff. I'm watching the first set though! :)

Emmerdale Farm books 8 - 18
Wow, here's a great ebay lot listing for "Emmerdale Farm" novels books #8 - #18 currently going for £0.99! Looks like the seller is only shipping within the UK, which makes sense as these books will be heavy, but still looks like a fantastic deal if you want a bunch of the later books for a great price. :D

Just one, sadly, got another book in the post today only to find that it is practically page for page a reprint of another book I have, just with a different cover D: It did yield one picture I hadn't seen before though!

Does anyone know how to transfer these files into another format as the format on here won't work on the computer I use.  Or, better still, does anyone know how to transfer them into CD Rom files?

So, van urged me to crosspost this here, and here it is. I had decided to create an unorganized rambly running commentary as I, a n00b, watched through the first episode of Emmerdale Farm. There's not much coherent sense to it, just things I was thinking as I watched.
And so it beginsCollapse )

eBay auction for books #1 - 19 (missing #7)
Just wanted to give a heads-up saying that there is currently an eBay auction up here for "Emmerdale Farm" novelizations #1 - 19 (missing #7), currently going for £1.99. The seller says she'll ship to the USA/other countries too, although shipping 18 books will be expensive, so I recommend contacting her before bidding, to see if she will ship surface mail. Postage within the UK is a very low £3.75.

Good luck, this looks like a great deal.

20 Emmerdale Farm icons, 2 wallpapers. :D
I have made 20 "Emmerdale Farm" icons, mostly featuring Joe, hahahaaha. But you can find glimpses of Matt, Jack, Annie and Sam, I think. I think Amos appears too, maybe. Anyway. Icons, yay. :D

Icons this way!Collapse )

I also have taken the lovely firefighter picture and made two wallpapers. Nothing fancy, I just wanted to see that smile everytime I shrank down my Windows. XD

ITV Website
So, I've made acquantance with a nice fellow through eBay who is going to send me some Emmerdale episodes on DVD that he's getting from someone else. Today he pointed me to this New ITV website which has some episodes of Emmerdale, old and new, available for watching through the website. Sadly, I can't get the files to play, even though I have downloaded all their crap. I think it's possibly because I'm in the US and they have some blocker on it to not let US people see their UK stuff. AAAUGH.

So, shemacraterror, can you view these clips? Does anyone know how to extract the videos from the website? I know randominity has done such before, but she's American too, and might not be able to play them. (I do intend to ask though.) I know that. Vixy can download YouTube videos, so maybe it can download these ones too, if you can find the link for them.

I am hopeful. But sad. WANT. TO. SEE.

How stupid they'd block these clips from Americans. If we were getting the episodes in 6 months, okay. But Emmerdale has NEVER aired in the US. :(

I plan to crosspost this at least to my personal journal.
